3-5 pounds. It's usually gone by the 3rd week of January.
I've gained about 6-7lbs since my wedding in April. Bout 3 have been in the last month. However, wife and I started a workout challenge this week (sat ends week 1). Work out 5 days a week. There is a low bar for working out, basically some (15mins?) of meaningful activity. Don't get to 5 and you have to put $100 from your monthly discretionary budget in the kitty... Least in the kitty last week of fab gets the whole shebang.
Just dared to step on the scale. Lost a pound. I give up trying to understand. When exactly do the calories hit you? I have never understood this. 3500 calories to a lb. Let's say you ate a really calorically dense food. ....one that allowed you to take in 7000 calories without getting full (don't know when this would be) When do the 2 lbs show up? I mean initially isn't it just the weight of the food?
Interesting question. Yep, initially you'd have the weight of the food, which doesn't really matter.
I did a little research. It takes about 24 hours for the food to go through the digestive tract. The various ways your body temporarily stores sugars and starches for energy usage only last for about a day.
So, we're interested in how long to go from food to actual body tissue, and the answer seems to from a little under a day, to a maximum of about 2 days.
That sounds logical to me. It just never seems to work that way for me. Maybe my digestive tract is slower than the average persons? Seems to be that way both ways. But on the other side of the coin, if you are dieting, would that body weight change then be in real time if it's just caloric intake versus energy output? If you are calorie deficient is the result immediate? So if you have a net gain from the weekend, and then calorie deficit today of equal value will it never show up?

Hopefully lose as I have been working out daily. I will know at the end of each month as they weigh me at the hospital for my RA meds.
