greg always follow my over night pick in brazil

%95 they move my way

Will do my friend, hope more people check out your Brasil picks. Great calls on the Rio derby and alot of the Brazilian matches today, made me some money. I love watching brazilian soccer as much as wagering on it, MLS and Mexican soccer was depressing to watch today. You may have seen this series but I love the views of the stadiums, torcidas and the samba schools in this one. If you get sick of danny dyer, the constant firm violence can get tedious in this series, check out 23:00 -24:40 section here. This is a firm! DC United fans need to worry less about Barra Bravas and get a samba school and half naked women.

This is one of the better docs in this series, alot of people dont like danny dyer and this series seems to just want to focus more on the violence and hard men but there is a little glimpse of the samba schools. The best football in the world and samba schools along with the torcidas. Nice to see some birds and music in these firm documentaries.

These "real football factory" documentaries are only about football violence, I want to find a documentary about brazilian samba schools and the torcidas. This is a much, much better video

I haven't seen those documentaries, I will watch them tomorrow. Gregory I will find you media online about the samba schools and how they intertwined with the torcidas.

This is the mother of all samba schools: Beija Flor http://www.beija-flor.com.br/index_2013.html Their influence is of wide scale in the whole culture/industry/boates of Rio's samba, which is the launching pad of most sambistas in all the country.

Here is one their alumni; one of the more popular sambistas, Zeca Pagodinho

Gregory I love those sit down boates similar to the video, specially the ones with tables and waiters, very popular down there. A little pagode(samba), a little sushi or kimbap, some Austrian sausage, a beer maybe or drink, or an Argentine wine, sitting back to the rhythm and the voice. Gregory that is what I like, that spoiled me, I refuse to go to regular concerts now.

This is my favorite samba school: Unidos da Tijuca http://unidosdatijuca.com.br In a separate post in a few days I will write why that is.

Gregory I don't know if you have ever heard of Raul Seixas - the man is a legend, Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Viktor Tsoi type of category.

Raul Seixas died of love.

Brazil is huge, one corner is different from the other, but it doesn't matter where you ask, more often than not Raulzito Seixas will be picked as the biggest icon in Brazilian music. And that's in a list that includes giants like Caetano Veloso, Roberto Carlos, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben Jor, Milton Nascimento, Chico Buarque among the males. That is impressive.

Two years ago a documentary came out about him, very good, I saw it pirated. Searching on Google I see it got picked up and released in the States earlier this year. Track it down, I recommend it man.

Here is the trailer and the site: http://www.raulseixasofilme.com.br

I translate:
(voice)
I have a magazine that I have saved for many years and that I will never open again
every time I tell someone bye, it may be that, that person is seeing me for the last time
the deaf death walks by my side and I don't know in which corner she's going to kiss me
(text)
10 thousand years ago, in Bahia
he discovered rock and roll
with a magician partner
he founded the alternative society
i was a fly in the soup, two spiders, and domesticated snake
an ambulant metamorphosis
an actor, the horror, the love
mad beauty, rebel with a cause
a star, that died
but till now...

in this life, either you get it or you're fucked, sociedade alternativa (wally this partly answers Q. no 5 of the On The Record)

I will check these out rogue, looks interesting. real football factories international is a great series, a little much with danny dyer and the terrace violence but still pretty good. the documentaries were all put out around the time of all the football firm movies.

You might like these

part 3 of this series with velez sarsfield is really good, amazing the close relationship these barra bravas have with their clubs.Part 4 is hilarious ,they actually have televised coverage and play by play of the bravas arriving to the match.

This is a fascinating documentary. About Italian ultras and also has some stuff on barra bravas in Argentina. Lazio firm actually owns radios stations , the most interesting aspect of this one is how much power the fans wield over the clubs

Thats not good, it should be interesting to see the security this weekend for the start of the Confederations Cup. I would give anything to go to the World cup. I know a couple of people who are going with some other US soccer supporters, the US contingent should be fun but the US national teams usual lack of success fills me with rage. Pele is telling Brazilian fans not to jeer their team at confederations cup, but American fans should be incensed. I dont want it to be like the Iraqi soccer steam under Husseins son where the team faced beatings when they lost, but Obama needs to let it be known that a poor showing at the world cup is not acceptable. drones.black ops. water boardings. do your best gentleman. Beating Jamaica in the last few minutes isnt going to cut it at the world cup.

Brazil should be beautiful, I think tickets for the US supporters were 5,000 for the two weeks. Confederations cup should be a good look at Brazil and some of these squads.

Pele asks Brazilians not to jeer their team at Confederations Cup

The Confederations Cup begins Saturday in Brazil and Pele wants the the home fans to play nice. Since Brazil automatically qualify for the 2014 World Cup as the host nation, competitive matches have been limited for them, allowing the bitter tastes from their quarterfinal loss to Paraguay in the 2011 Copa America and the gold-medal game loss to Mexico in last summer's Olympics to fester. Now Pele is asking his countrymen not to jeer their team, even if they fail to defend their Confederations Cup title.

From Goal.com:

A request to all Brazilians, to those who love Brazilian football, to respect this preparation period before the Confederations Cup, Pele was quoted as saying by O Povo. Dont jeer the team, and dont bring violence to the stadiums. Lets host a clean cup - even if the team doesnt perform well, we should not jeer - and support the players, because they need this."

Brazil are coming off an encouraging 3-0 friendly win against France (and a not so encouraging 2-2 draw against England). Though the tournament is little more than a warm-up for the World Cup, pressure will stil be high on Brazil. Neymar will likely get the brunt of that pressure, especially after his 57-million transfer from Santos to Barcelona.

In April, he got a taste of those jeers Pele is hoping to quiet. From the AP:

He was loudly jeered by home fans after playing poorly in a 2-2 draw in a friendly with Chile.
''Nobody likes to be booed, but I don't really care,'' Neymar said. ''I know what I can do.''

In other words, haters gonna hate, unless they listen to Pele. Which they probably won't.

The happy prostitute campaign and english campaign

Brazil prostitutes to learn English for 2014 World Cup

The Brazilian health ministry has scrapped a campaign called I'm happy being a prostitute following widespread criticism in the progressive, but still deeply religious country.

The purpose of the online campaign was to promote safe sex and reduce the stigma against sex workers.
Other posters in the campaign carried slogans such as 'I cannot be seen without a condom, my love.'

Prostitution is legal in Brazil and the business is expected to experience a boom in the next couple of years as the country will play host to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and then the 2016 Olympics.

Meanwhile prostitutes in the city of Belo Horizonte are lining up for free English classes to enable them to communicate with the expected influx of foreign clients, reports CNN. Other languages being offered include French and Italian.

'They'll have to learn how to work out financial deals and also use a specialized vocabulary with sensual words and fetishes,' explained Cida Vieira, who heads the city's association of prostitutes.

Prostitutes in one of Brazil's biggest cities are beginning to sign up for free English classes ahead of this year's Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup.

Cida Vieira, president of the Association of Prostitutes in the city of Belo Horizonte, said Tuesday that 20 have already signed up for the courses and she expects at least 300 of the group's 4,000 members to follow suit. The association is organizing the classes and seeking volunteer teachers.
