so far we have discussed felt pork pies, fedoras, panama's, berets, greek fisherman and whatever that was that billy gibbons was wearing that looked like a skull cap with some artificial fishing lures attached. it's high time we talked about western style or cowboy hats.

here are a couple of styles unique and still very popular here in texas. first, the lbj stetson, a short-brimmed sort of 'dress hat' men wore to church or to official functions when i was a kid. this is also on my wish list, #4 in the order.

next, it depends where you go in texas and where people are from in texas as to the official name of this style. i first heard of it as a pecos straw hat, but others will call it san antonio, austin, lamesa, matagorda, laredo, mainly the south and west parts of the state.

I'm losing hair fast on my head, but good god I don't know if I'll ever want a hat. I just feel a male wearing one lacks the confidence to show off what hes got. I'll rock a Giants hat at most.

well, i was brought up thinking a man wore a hat as part of his daily attire, and then developed possibly an overzealous affinity for the damn things. i have an SF fitted cap, bought it in '99 when i went to candlestick for the last time. another hat i take care of and wear often.

haha! babushka is also the word for grandma in parts of eastern europe. i am glad you brought that word into the discussion about hats, bread. i use the word 'babushka' a lot. seriously.

more on western hats. rooster cogburn had a good one.

blondie/no name sported a well-worn, half-stove pipe sort of pork pie.
