In my experience people who do drugs take on as much of a "I'm so much more enlightened" attitude as you think non-users have a self-righteous attitude.

I see a lot of truth in that. Particularly on forums, people just get goofy about drug use. Guys are like, "Ohmygawd, I'm drinking!" like there is a sense of accomplishment and self-congratulation just for the drug use itself. What it reminds me of more than anything is high school.

And maybe it's as simple as that. Maybe it's an age thing and I am the cranky old addict saying, "Way to go kid - now if you can figure out something useful to do while you're drinking, then we'll have something to talk about."
